Background
Organised by the Singapore Mathematical Society, Singapore Mathematical Olympiad (SMO) is the largest and oldest mathematics competition in Singapore. It started as the Inter- School Mathematical Competition in the mid-1950. The current name Singapore Mathematical Olympiads (Junior, Senior, and Open) started in 1995. Each year, thousands of students from all over the country take part in SMO.
Eligibility:
- Round 1 of the Competition will be a two-and-a-half hour written paper consisting of multiple choice and short questions (Junior and Senior)/short questions (Open). All questions will carry equal weight. The language of the Competition will be English.
- Participants in the top 10% of round 1 of the competition will be invited to participate in round 2, which will be a three-hour (Junior)/four-hour (Senior and Open) written paper consisting of questions requiring full length solutions.
The results of the round 1 of the Competition will be used as a key criterion for the selection of the Singapore National Training Team for the International Olympiad in the following year.
